The Outdoor Therapeutic Effect — Travelogue #031 (by Guillaume Hullin)

I think this quote will be a good starting point on what I mean by therapeutic. Taking a deep fresh breath of air and doing some exercice are good for the health but that’s not what I look for in nature. I look for the self-reliance that the environment enforce on you. I feel that sometimes we get stuck into a confort zone which we need to break out from (and people that know me personally… knows that my confort zone is not what usually people think).
When you are stuck in snow storm and nightfall is on its way, your thoughts are not on past problems or future problems but on what’s happening right now and what should be your next action. It forces you to disconnect from all your “life problems and annoyances”… it doesn’t solve it but taking a step back from it usually results in finding new ideas and ways to solve it. That’s what I mean by “therapeutic”.
